Legal Steroids For Muscle Growth
There has been a lot of talk lately about ‘legal steroids’. There are many businesses selling them nowadays, claiming that you can reap the same benefits with them as you can with real anabolic steroids – though without the negative side effects or the need for a prescription.
This can be more than a bit confusing, however – as anabolic steroids are very strictly regulated by law in the UK. So how can these companies offer ‘legal’ steroids? Are they actually selling anabolic steroids, or are they providing something similar that has none of the side effects or legal constraints?
This is, admittedly, a somewhat complicated question. In this article, I am going to attempt to answer it in a way that makes sense and that will clarify exactly what is happening when it comes to legal steroids. To start with, we should first discuss exactly what anabolic steroids are, and exactly how they are regulated.
What are anabolic steroids?
Anabolic steroids are basically synthetic hormones that resemble testosterone. They are primarily used for the growth of muscle, though they are also used to treat some types of medical conditions. Anabolic steroids are regulated in the UK, though some people use them without a prescription. Steroids that are taken without prescriptions are primarily used to increase muscle mass and to lengthen workout times. This usually results in bigger muscles and more pronounced results from workouts, though steroids also come with their own set of side effects and risks.
Illegal steroid use in males use can reduce sperm count, shrink the testicles, cause sterility, and also enlarge the breasts. In females, steroids can increase body hair, make the skin rougher, decrease breast size, and deepen the voice.
There are also some other side effects, including an increased risk for high blood pressure, stroke, or heart attack. People who take illegal steroids might also be in danger of developing liver disease, or possibly even liver cancer.
Is it legal to take anabolic steroids?
Anabolic steroids are currently controlled a ‘Class C’ drugs under ‘the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971’. According to the law, they are legal to possess or import/export as long as they are only intended for personal use, and as long as they are in the form of a medicinal product. They are illegal to supply to other people, and are also illegal to manufacture unless you are authorized by the government to do so.
In the most basic sense, it is illegal to use anabolic steroids without a prescription from a healthcare professional. Some doctors will prescribe steroids to treat different medical conditions, but buying/possessing/using them outside of a doctor’s authorization is both dangerous and against the law.
So what exactly are ‘legal’ steroids?
A lot of people have heard the term ‘legal steroids’ used to describe supplements that contain steroid-like ingredients that cause similar effects as anabolic steroids in the human body. For example, many legal steroid supplements contain an ingredient called dehydroepiandrosterone, or DHEA. This component can actually be turned into different hormones once inside the body, and can have a similar effect on the body as real anabolic steroids.
Of course, some might say that ingredients like DHEA are not quite as potent as anabolic steroids – which is why they are not illegal for use and can be purchased in supplement form.
In large doses, these ingredients also cause some negative side effects, though most legal steroids actually advertise their products as ‘side effect free’. This could be because the supplements do not contain enough of the ingredients to really cause negative side effects, though it really depends on the product and on the amount of the ingredient contained within it.
Can ‘legal steroids’ really help you with muscle growth?
According to webmd.com, it has ‘not been proven’ whether or not DHEA can actually make your muscles bigger. But, they also say that if you take these supplements ‘in large amounts, they can cause the same side effects as anabolic steroids.’
It isn’t always that big of a surprise to find out that things work that haven’t bene proven in a ‘laboratory setting’, and legal steroids may be one of these. There are, after all, a lot of compelling testimonials on the internet claiming that they do, in fact, help you to gain muscle – especially when you take them in a stack with other key ingredients to help simulate the effects of steroids on the body.
Of course, if one follows the instructions, it seems that you can indeed enjoy the benefits without the risks, as finding negative reviews on these types of products is pretty difficult. Most people seem to have a good experience, and one of the most common negatives that we find when reviewing such products is that they simply didn’t work – which is definitely a far cry from suffering debilitating or dangerous side effects
